Diols are great important monomers for manufacturing plastics and polyurethanes, which are widely used in our daily life. The biosynthesis of short-chain diols has been well established, while medium to long chain , diols has not yet been utilized industrially with either chemical or biological method. Hence, it’s important to develop a strategy for the synthesis of these diols. In this study, we utilized very well-known fatty acids and alkane -hydroxylase CYP153A33 from Marinobacter aquaelolei, carboxy acid reductase from Mycobacterium marinum and indigenous alcohol hydroxylase of E. coli in two step biosynthesis. In the initial study, all substrate (C8-C16) were nearly full converted to respective , diols from commercial -hydroxyfatty acids through whole-cell biocatalysts. Finally, we successfully abled to produce high commercial interesting monomers for polymer production |
