Phenothiazylene vinylene-Based polymers ; A New class of organic semiconductors for Field-Effect transistor. |

This study reports the syntheses and electroptical properties of the phenothiazylene vinylene based conjugated polymers. These phenothiazylene vinylene derivatives, poly(10-(4-dodecyloxyphenyl)-3-((E)-2-(thiophene-2-yl)vinyl)10H-phenothiazine) (PVT), poly(10-(4-dodecyloxyphenyl)-3-styryl-10H-phenothiazine) (PVP) were synthesized via Horner-Emmons coupling reaction. These polymers were well dissolved in common organic solvents such as chloroform, THF, 1,2-dichlorobenzene, etc. The thin film of PVP and PVT exhibited maximum UV-visible absorption at 470 and 509 nm, respectively. The ionization potentials of the polymers were determined by cyclic voltammetry, and were found to range from 5.09 to 5.11 eV. An organic field effect transistor was fabricated using PVT as a new channel material and exhibited a carrier mobility of 3.18 × 10-3 cm2 / V・s and an on/off ratio ~ 103. |
