Electrodeposition has been attracting attentions because of its many advantages including low-cost, rapid deposition rate, and ease of control their microstructure and crystallinity by adjusting electrodeposition parameters. Among many materials, of II-VI semiconductors, including binary and ternary compounds can be used either alone or by alloying with other elements, for solar cells, thermoelectric devices, and phase-change devices. Thermoelectric compounds such as Sb2Te3, Bi2Te3, and Bi2Se3 have been extensively studied because of their potential applicability for efficient energy harvesting and cooling devices. In addition, CdTe has attention for the application for solar cell and photoelectrochemical cell, due to its energy band gap (1.4~2.0eV), which is very well matched with the solar spectrum. We performed systematic studies to electrodeposited thermoelectric thin films and photo-sensitive materials, and correlate their materials/structural properties to thermoelectrical, optoelectric, and electrical properties. |
