제목 Improvement of the electrochemical properties of PEDOT thin film by UV irradiation
초록 Redox capacitor has a large output energy density, superb chargedischarge time and cycle life by reversible faradaic surface redox reaction. In this study, poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene) PEDOT thin film as a working electrode was synthesized by solution polymerization. 0.1 M lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) solution in propylene carbonate(PC), acetonitrile(AC), methyl propionate(MP), 1,2 dimethoxyethane(DME) was used as the electrolyte solution in the redox capacitor. We compared the specific capacitance and coulombic efficiency of the redox capacitor before and after UV-irradiation on the PEDOT electrode. Specific capacitance of the capaciotr increased by about 10% after UV-irradiation. It was found that the PEDOT surface became more wettable with UV-irradiation. The change in the surface property lowered the contact resistance between electrode and electrolyte, resulting in the improved electrochemical properties of PEDOT supercapacitor.
