제목 Fabrications and Characterizations of Waterborne Polyurethane/Clay Nanocomposites
초록 The replacement of organic solvent by water is an effective way for the reduction of VOC. So waterborne polyurethanes have been actively studied recently to overcome certain properties which are inferior to those of solvent-based PUs. In recent years, the investigation of organic-inorganic nanocomposites has become a very important field since such materials often exhibit synergistic properties derived from two components.
In this study, to make high performance waterbome PUs, we incorporated nanometer-scale layers of organoclay into waterborne PUs. The waterborne PUs were synthesized from isophoronediisocyanate(IPDI), poly(tetramethyleneglycol)(PTMG Mw=1000), 1,4-butanediol(1,4-BD), dimethylolpropionic acid(DMPA), triethylamine(TEA) and diethylenetriamine(DETA). First of all, organoclay was reacted with IPDI.
The intercalation and exfoliation of organoclay in waterborne PU were confirmed by X-ray diffraction pattern. Thermal and mechanical properties were examined with dynamic mechenical thermal analyzer(DMTA), differential scanning calorimeter(DSC), tensile tester and so on.
