Gas barrier polymer films are used in various applications such as bottles, food packaging, and display. Depending on the application, gas barrier films were required for various ranges of moisture and oxygen permeability. High polar polymer such as poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) is good at gas barrier material of mass-produced polymers but handicaps the poor water barrier due to hydroxyl group. Improving the gas-barrier property of PVA would remove this limitation because PVA is the best gas barrier among synthesized polymers. Graphene has attracted attention due to its mechanical and chemical properties. Graphene extends to gas pathway because of gas-impermeable atomic membrane. First of all, dispersion of graphene oxides (GO) in PVA matrix has important role. In study, PVA-grafted PVA/GO composites will be achieved not only by the good dispersion of PVA-grafted GO in the PVA matrix but also by the strong interfacial adhesion between PVA-grafted GO and the PVA matrix. |
