Fabrication and characterizations of high performance pore-filled ion-exchange membranes for reverse electrodialysis application |
초록 |
Reverse electrodialysis (RED) is one of the emerging sustainable technologies for renewable power generation, which is based on harvesting salinity gradient energy, released when two aqueous streams of different salinity are mixed. A RED stack contains alternately arranged anion- and cation-exchange membranes which can separate salt solutions of different concentrations. The power generation performance of REDs is significantly dependent upon the properties of ion-exchange membranes (IEMs). In this work, pore-filled ion-exchange membranes (PFIEMs) have been prepared by employing various monomers and oligomers as the filling materials and examined for the successful RED application.
