Plasma polymerized allylamine coatings on the Polystyrene(PS) surface were studied to observe the effect of cell adhesion by continuous RF plasma and remote RF plasma. Different process parameters of plasma coatings have been applied to introduce amine functionality on the PS surface. Chemical and physical properties of allylamine polymerized plasma films were studied by FT-IR spectroscopy, AFM, and contact angle measurement. In FT-IR, the two new peaks were found in the spectrum of the polymerized allylamine coatings at ~2150(-C≡N) cm-1 and at ~1650 cm-1 (C=N or C=O). The allylamine coated PS films showed water contact angle of ca 45° and that of unmodified PS was 88° degree. the roughness and depostion rate of deposited films were measured by AFM. cell adhesion of allylamine coated PS was confirmed by cell culture and inverted microscopy. Best conditions for proliferation rate were at 10 Watt for direct and remote RF plasma. |
