The preparation of non-woven carbon fiber reinforced PP composites using novel hydrophilic copolymers |

In this study, we prepared novel dispersing agents (NDAs) by a copolymerization of a bio-based carboxylic monomer with acrylic acid, acrylamide, or vinyl sulfonic acid. Basically, we compared the dispersion effects of NDAs on carbon fiber (CF) in water-based system with those of widely used dispersing agents (Kolliphor, Polyvinyl alcohol, and Polystyrene sulfonate). We manufactured non-woven CF/PP composites using NDAs under wet-laid process and subsequent laminating one. We determined the mechanical and thermal properties of the composites. We found that the properties of the non-woven CF/PP composites using NDAs showed better performances than those of control composites. |
