Cationic effect of RTIL on Co2+ redox behavior towards mediator generation |

Cationic and anionic groups of an ionic liquid can influence the mediator precursor or mediator generation by solubilizing the metal ions that solvation effect may differ with difference cationic or anionic moiety of RTIL. In order to generate suitable mediator, there must be a prior knowledge about redox behavior of a selected precursor in different ionic liquids. With this idea, we performed the electrochemical behavior of CoCO3 or Co(ClO4)2 in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl imide ([BMIM]NTF2) and N-butyl –N-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl imide ([Pyr14]NTF2) by cyclic voltammetry method. The electrochemical parameters and redox properties of Co2+/Co3+ and Co2+/Co1+ were analyzed by effect of scan rate, and potential window at Pt electrode. |
