Preparation and characterization of nano silver colloid via non-polar solvent method. |

This study is concerned with non-polar solvent method to prepare nano silver colloid. Synthesis of silver colloid has been carried out in a non-polar solvent system as toluene, in which silver nitrate served as a precursor, neodecanoic acid as capping agent and phenyl hydrazine as reductant. To confirm the size and morphology of silver nanoparticles, Silver colloid has been characterized by high resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM). Nanoparticles are well dispersed in non-polar solvent as toluene. The size of synthesized silver nanoparticles is up to 20 nm and the smallest size of silver nanoparticles is to 10 from 5 nm. It was shown that factors governing the size of silver nanoparticles are reaction time, temperature and concentration of solutes. These smallest silver nanoparticles can be effective to make silver colloid sinter under 200 oC. It can be high-loaded up to silver nanoparticle 80 wt.% with consequence that is measured by thermo gravimetric analyzer (TGA). |
