Conducting polymers (CPs) have attracted attention around the world as new electrochemical actuator materials. They have attractive properties such as being high stress generation, low operating voltages, and stable oxidation state. Volumetric change of a conducting polymer during its redox process is thought to be achieved by electrolyte ion transport in and out of the polymer film. In this work, we studied an actuator consisting of three layers of two conducting polymer films and solid polymer electrolyte with a configuration of PPy/PVDF/PPy. Electrochemical thin film was doped by various dopants with different size. Electrochemically synthesized PPy was characterized by scanning electron microscopy and 4-point probe. The properties of SPE were measured by using fourier thansform-infrared spectroscopy, AC impedance measurements and dynamic mechanical analyzer. |
