Poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) is an important material in the fabrication of module compounds for the electrical industry and automotive production. E-beam irradiated PBT is expected to increase thermal resistance. In this study, the effects of the electron beam irradiation on the thermal properties of PBT were investigated. The PBT was irradiated by E-beam irradiation in a nitrogen atmosphere. The electron beam was generated under the condition of a 10 MeV acceleration voltage and expose to the electron beam in the dose range 100, 300, 500, 700 and 1000 kGy. The thermal properties of irradiated PBT were characterized using DSC, TGA and DMA. And the mechanical properties of E-beam irradiated PBT such as flexural strength was characterized by an universal testing machine (UTM). |
