We attempted to synthesize a thieno[3,4-b]thiophene-based polymer via Yamamoto and Stille coupling reactions for application in polymer-based solar cells. The resulting polymers were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), cyclic voltametry, UV-vis spectroscopy, and fluorescence spectroscopy. Energy levels of the HOMO and LUMO of the polymers were also estimated. The polymer blends with PCBM were employed in fabrication of bulk-heterojunction photovoltaic devices. The experimental results will be presented in detail. |
