제목 | Lead(II) Acetate Anchored Nanofiber for Colorimetric H2S Gas Sensors toward Diagnosis of Halitosis |
초록 | It had been reported that lead(II) acetate reacts with hydrogen sulfide and its color changes when colored lead sulfide precipitates on the surface in the early 20th century. So far, in order to monitor leakage of H2S gas in industrial field, lead(II) acetate has been employed as test papers. However, detection limit of these products is estimated to be as low as 5 ppm that it is considered to be so challenging for diagnosis of halitosis with the conventional test papers. Diagnosis of halitosis by exhaled breath requires sensitive sensors that can detect down to 1 ppm of H2S gas in air flowing. In this work, to meet this requirement, fine dye settled nanofibers are successfully synthesized, offering high surface area and a high degree of porosity. First, lead(II) acetate is stirred at high temperature over 80 ℃, melting into fine liquid particles. Afterwards, quenching to low temperature below 20 ℃ is carried out, leading to precipitation of well-distributed dye particles in the electrospinning solution. During the subsequent electrospinning, lead(II) acetate anchored nanofibers are obtained, facilitating a number of reactions sites and fast diffusion of H2S into fine lead(II) acetate anchored nanofibers. This newly obtained sensing material could change its color to brown when exposed to 1 ppm of H2S gas within a few seconds even at relative humidity of 80 %, resulting in possible application to colorimetric sensors for diagnosis of halitosis. |
