High short-circuit current polymer photovoltaic cells |

High efficiency solar cells based on regioregular poly-(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6]-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) blend were fabricated by modifying the electrical and morphological characteristics of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)/poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) using secondary solvents. The doping of the secondary solvents to the PEDOT:PSS increased the short circuit current up to 12 mA/cm2 without changing the open circuit voltage and fill factor, resulting in the solar energy conversion efficiency of over 4% at AM1.5, which is 30 % higher than the cells without doping. This improvement was attributed to the more efficient exciton dissociation resulting from the variation of the nanostructure of the polymer layer. |
