Flexible steel substrate has been the one of the potential candidates for flexible organic light-emitting diodes(FOLEDs). However, due to the rough surface of steel, organic buffer layer is required to flatten it even though the penetration of water vapor into OLEDs is easier through the edge of the buffer layer. By inserting the interlayer, water vapor coming from the buffer layer can be blocked. In this research, we introduced Al2O3 deposited by plasma enhanced atomic layer deposition(PEALD) as the interlayer positioned between the anode and buffer layer. OLED device based on flexible steel with organic buffer layer and Al2O3 interlayer showed the prolonged lifetime compared to OLED without the interlayer which blocks the water vapor. In this result, we confirmed that Al2O3 performed well as a interlayer for sufficient barrier preventing the invasion of water vapor. |
