Three different species (VN-1, VN-2 and VN-3) of Streptomyces were isolated from the surrounding marine habitat of Vietnam. These strain were grown in defined media and compared cultural characteristics with other nutrient rich media (R2YE, TSB, ISP2). The Morphological, physiological, 16S rDNA and antibacterial activity were studied to identify the strains. Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Micrococcus luteus, E. coli XL1 blue, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterobacter cloacae sub dissolvens were used as test organisms to study the antibacterial activity. According to the 16S rDNA and antibacterial activity, these strains may be the new strain although it shows close phylogeny to Streptomyces sp. by VN-1, Streptomyces malayensis (99.78%) by VN-2 and Streptomyces cheonanensis sp. nov. (99.43%) by VN-3. |
