Strain-induced enthalpy relaxation in PLLA/PDLA blends |

Blends of poly(L-lactic acid)(PLLA) with poly(D-lactic acid)(PDLA) were prepared via solution blending. Blend films were obtained by compression molding at 190℃ with subsequent quenching in ice water. The films were stretched uniaxially at draw ratio of 2.5 at 10℃ above the glass transition temperature. All of the drawn films exhibited endothermic peaks just above the glass transition temperature. The endothermic heat varied depending on blend composition. Based on a thermodynamic model, the origins of strain-induced enthalpy relaxation in PLLA/PDLA blend were investigated. |
