A commercially viable method to fabricate composite bipolar plate based on electroflocking technique was proposed and demonstrated, which offers enhanced through thickness electrical conductivity as well as the increased flexural strength. Thermoplastic composite prepreg consisting of fluoropolymer, carbon black, graphite powders and carbon fiber was prepared by means of electroflocking followed by hot pressing. Then multiple plies of these prepreg were stacked and compression molded to form composite bipolar plate with gas flow channels. We also present the result of the sing cell test assembled using these bipolar plate in an attempt to know what factors dominantly influence the cell efficiency. |
