Polymer solar cells (PSCs) have attracted attention due to their low cost and potential for large area solar cells. Although spin coating is the most commonly used technique for the deposition of active layer at present, this method is incompatible with fabrication of large area solar cells. Recently, a variety of approaches have been introduced for fabrication of large area PSCs such as spray, blade coating and ink-jet printing. However, these methods are still far from roll-to-roll process for industrial production. Here, we report the PSCs fabricated by the roller-printing which is the most easy-to-use and widely used for painting in commercial production. This method has advantages over other coating methods because shear and normal stresses accompanied with the roller-printing process induce alignment of polymer chains, resulting in high crystallinity. Therefore, the roller-printing is considered to be very promising process for fabrication of high efficiency and large area PSCs. |
