Relation between Acoustic Properties and Hardness of Coatings for Musical Instruments with Various Coating Thickness |
초록 |
The relation between acoustic properties and hardness of coatings for musical instruments was examined by sound level meter and hardness tester. Urethane topcoat, cashew, oil stain, natural varnish, and UV-curable epoxy coatings were applied on four different substrates. The influence of coating's type on acoustic properties was more effective than the influence of substrates. In case of hard and brittle coatings, sound pressure level and hardness increased with more thickness of coating. However soft coatings, sound pressure level decreased but hardness was alike with more thickness of coatings. |
