Selective Polymorph Crystallization of Glycineon Nanopatterned Polymer Surfaces |

The poly (styrene-b-ethylene oxide) (PS-b-PEO) patterned substrates having ordered cylindrical PEO domains of 20-30 nm were served as nucleation sites and were utilized to control the size of the crystals. The hydrophilic characteristics of the PEO domain can provide the driving force to position hydrophilic particles selectively within the patterned domain. Under a well-defined condition, glycine nanoparticles were selectively positioned within hydrophilic PEO nanodomains. Additionally nanocrystals grown on nanopatterned surfaces might lead to formation of high energy metastable polymorphs. To study the polymorphic outcome of glycine constrained on patterned substrates, crystals obtained on a patterned substrate and on a bare silicon wafer were characterized by Raman spectrometer and AFM. |
