Photoelectrodes composed of mesoporous TiO2 spheres as scattering center and TiO2 nanoparticles as a binder were fabricated and studied for improved energy conversion efficiency in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). In order to achieve dispersion of TiO2 sphere in suspension and improve the connectivity between TiO2 spheres in electrodes, acid treatment and compression method are applied, respectively. These electrodes composed of TiO2 spheres and nanoparcles possess advantages for high performance of DSSCs, including the light scattering by the TiO2 spheres and dye-loading capacity by the high surface area. A high energy conversion efficiency of 7.66% was achieved with composite type photoelectrode, without applying anti-reflection coating, back-scattering layer. |
