The novel block copolymer, poly(2-(4-vinylphenyl)pyridine)-b-poly(2-vinylpyridine) (PP2VP-b-P2VP) was synthesized by living anionic polymerization technique. Aggregation behavior of the (PP2VP-b-P2VP) block copolymer was studied in a selective solvent methanol, which is more favorable for the P2VP than PP2VP block. Introduction of the phenyl group between vinyl back bone and pyridine produce polarity difference between PP2VP and P2VP block in methanol which leads to the formation of a 40 ± 1 nm mono-dispersed micelles. Morphological studies of the micelles were carried out by using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). TEM micrographs of the micelles clearly deciphered flower type shape of the micelles. |
