One-dimensional (1D) mesoporous magnetite nanorods attract significant interest owing to their anisotropic magnetic property and porous morphology, particularly in electrochemical and energy storage applications.[1-2] In this study, magnetite nanorods containing ordered mesocages (MNOM) are synthesized using template-free and preshaped precursors, 1D FeOOH nanorods that are transformed to MNOM under temperature- and time-dependent reducing treatment. The dissolution and recrystallization of the preshaped nanoparticle precursors are crucial to produce the unique ordered mesocage nanorods, which are accompanied by evaporation and migration of water molecules during the crystallization. Furthermore, cyclic voltammetry analyses the synthesized nanoparticles to demonstrate enhanced electroactivity through the difference in the exposed crystal planes and the surface–to–volume ratio. |
