MWNTs are important materials with a unique combination of mechanical, electrical and thermal properties. For a practical application, they should be cut because as-prepared MWCNT are entangled and aggregated in general. Besides, their size distribution after cutting process is expected to be very important factor in determining the final properties of polymer-MWCNT composite. In the present study, we demonstrate a use of chromatographic methods to analyze the effect of treatment methods on a length distribution of pre-treated MWCNTs. One is an oxidation process with H2SO4/H2NO3 solution and the other is an ultrasonic process with high power.. Each CNT after different pre-treatment process produced the different behavior in electric conductivity. These studies promise future applications of highly conductive materials in the membrane, sensor and so on. |
