Preparation of Epoxy/Silver Nanocomposite with High Dielectric Constant for Embedded Capacitor Application |

Embedding the discrete passive components into the substrate board of microelectronic product such as printed circuit/wiring board(PCB/PWB) has been paid attention as an important method to miniaturize the electronic product. Novel materials with high dielectric constant and low dielectric loss as well as with processibility are necessary for the embedded passive applications. In this study, we prepared epoxy/silver nanocomposite with high dielectric constant from the mixing of epoxy acrylic resin with a precursor of metallic silver such as silver nitrate and by a subsequent UV irradiation of the mixture. It was observed by TEM and XRD that silver nanoparticle was formed and uniformly dispersed in the UV cured epoxy/silver composite film. It was found that as silver contents increases in the nanocomposite films, dielectric constants were increased. Such precursor formulation can be potentially used for the fabrication of passive components by ink-jet printing. |
