Generally, phase separations of block copolymer show various morphologies. In case of controlling nanoparticles such as SiO2, TiO2 and so on, block copolymers are used by template and polymers are often used as a stabilizing matrix for nanoparticles because most polymers are easily processable as required for specific applications. If nanoparticles can be incorporated or arranged only into one of phase-separated domains of block copolymers, it is possible to obtain various structures having a unique spatial distribution of the nanoparticles in the matrix polymers. In this study, we used a hydrophilicity of nanoparticles and one domain of block copolymers for selective incorporation of nanoparticles. We designed and synthesized block copolymers, poly(2-vinylpyrinine-b-styrene) (P2VP-b-PS) that have different block ratios. To use hydrogen bonding, silica sol solutions obtained by hydrolysis of tetraethylorthosilane(TEOS) were introduced into the P2VP-b-PS quaternized by CH3I. As a result, we can observe different morphologies such as hexagonal, and lamella structures that were analyzed by TEM and SEM. |
