제목 The Role of Counter Cation on Bending Performance in IPMC
초록 IPMCs(Ionic Polymer Metal Composites) are active actuators which show large deformation in attendance of low applied voltage. These materials have ionic sites in the polymer, and their cation ion results in bending displacements to move due to electro-osmotic drag of hydrated counter ions from anode to cathode. And also, counter ions have a different charge density depending on their radius.
With this point in mind, IPMC was prepared by using new ion-exchange polymer which was copolymerized with fluoroalkylacrylate(Zonyl TA-N) and acylic acid. The counter cation, H+, of carboxylic groups in the membrane was converted to other alkali metal ions. In the presence of electric field, the different bending behavior in IPMCs with dissimilar cation ion in the membrane was measured with laser displacement meter. And the effective water molecular during transport in each membrane was examined by DSC(Differential Scanning Calorimetry).
