제목 Performance of Polypyrrole-Coated Carbon Nanofiber Composite as Anode Material for Microbial Fuel Cells Application
초록 Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) are electrochemical devices that convert the chemical energy of organic matter such as carbohydrate and organic acids into electricity directly using microorganisms. However, the performance of MFCs is affected by several factors including the type of microbial inoculums, the chemical substrate, the absence or presence of proton exchange membranes, the internal and external cell resistances, the ionic strength, the electrode materials and the electrode spacing. The objective of this study was to examine polypyrrole (PPy)-polyacrylonitrile(PAN)/CNT composite through a PPy coating on the surface of the PAN/CNT nanofibers as the novel anode material in MFC systems. The PPy-PAN/CNT nanofiber composites provided a three-dimensional network structure of interwoven nanotubes, which enabled more specific surface area for anodic bacteria anchoring of MFCs.
