Preparation of conductive polymer nano-films and its characteristics |

We investigated the preparation of nano-level thick conductive polymer films on plastic substrate chemically by vapor deposition polymerization (VDP) technique. It was found from the analysis of the morphological structure by atomic force microscopy that ultra thin films of conductive polymer with thickness between 20 and 80 nm could be formed by VDP as well as by casting. The surface resistance of conductive films more than 60 nm thick was enhanced up to 1000 Ω/ℵ, and the light-transmittance was increased up to 95 % in case of a film less than 40 nm thick. The surface of conductive polymer nano-films shows much uniform and compact or tight morphology. The electronic structures and chemical defects (charged domains) dispersed in polymer chains of conductive nano-films are observed from the electronic absorption, ATR and Raman scattering spectroscopy. These nano-films of conductive polymer prepared by VDP method exhibited excellent electro-conductive and optical properties that are sufficient to be applied to organic opto-electronic films for FPDs. |
