One of the most promising ways to improve the electrochemical performance of solid polymer electrolytes is to form composite polymer electrolytes by adding fillers. In this work, we prepared poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)-based nanocomposite solid polymer electrolytes (NSPEs) using different types of organically modified MMT (hydrophilic MMT: Cloisite®30B,C30B and hydrophobic MMT: Cloisite®15A, C15A) as a nano-sized filler. The organically modified MMTs consisted of stacked silicate layers were dispersed in PVDF and we investigated the influences of clay into PVDF on its properties such as structural change and ionic conductivity. From XRD and DSC measurements, we verified the degree of crystallinity for each sample. Also, we confirmed the changes of nanocomposite structures visually by TEM and ionic conductivity was decided with ac impedance measurement. |
