제목 Synthesis and Characterization of PMMA/Clay Nanocomposite Particles by Emulsion Polymerization
초록 Poly(methyl methacrylate)/clay nonacomposite particle was prepared using emilsion polymerization in the presence of a dissolved sodium ion exchanged montmorillonite in water medium. The content of montmorillonite based on the methyl methacrylate monomer was adjusted from 0 to 5 wt%. Potassum persulfate and sodium lauryl sulfate were used as initiator and emulsifier, respectively. The final particle size was in the range of 100 ~580nm with polydispersiry of 0.28. The evidence of intercalated /exfoliated structure of montmorillonite in the nanocomposite prepared in our experiment was confirmed by wade angle x-ray diffraction patterns of d001 plane. Thermal properties of nonocamposite was traced using DSC and TGA. It was found that the glass transition temperature and the thermal degradation temperature were increased with incresing amout of montmorillonite in the PMMA/clay nanocomposite. We also found that the mechanical properties such as impact strength and tensile properties were enhanced with increasing amount of montmorillonite in the PMMA/clay nanocomposite.
