제목 Characterization of Epoxy/CNT Nanocomposites Comprising Surface Modified CNTs
초록 Homogeneous dispersion and strong interfacial bonding have been found to be necessary conditions to take full advantage of the remarkable properties of nanotubes for reinforcement of composites. We have developed a fully integrated nanotube composite material through the functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes. Multi-walled carbon nanotubes were oxidized in organic acids. The surface modification of the oxidized nanotubes was achieved by refluxing the nanotubes with multi-functional amines. The functionalized nanotubes were embedded in epoxy resin and the resulting composite was investigated by transmission-electron microscopy (TEM). The functionalization led to a reduced agglomeration and evidences are given for improved interaction between the nanotubes and epoxy resin matrix.
