Management of a power plant should encompass the entire scope of the power plant from construction, operation and decommission, etc. Most attention so far has been mainly given to constructing and operation in the case of nuclear power plants in South Korea. As the life span of many plants are coming to expire. Radioactively contaminated facility should be dissembled and properly treated with delicate methods. This requires a massive amount of cost after a long period of time, often decades of years. Therefore the entire decommissioning and decontamination activities should be orchestrated to minimize cost and time. This paper addresses how process systems engineering principles can be utilized in the decommissioning. |
