Polarization-dependent liquid crystalline polymer lens array by using top-down alignment method for 2D/3D switchable display |

We present a well-aligned reactive mesogen (RM) layer for polarization-dependent 1-demension (1D) lens array via a top-down alignment method by using the nano-groove structure made by the nano-imprinting process. In our method, the RM layer is aligned on the reverse-shaped 1D lens array template by both the bottom liquid crystal (LC) alignment layer and the top nano-groove layer. Owing to the additional geometric alignment effect by the nano-groove pattern, the photo-cured RM layer can be well aligned irrespective of the complex surface structure. The nano-groove structure formed on the photo-cured RM layer can be used also for the LC alignment layer, which enables our combined structure of the polarization-dependent 1D lens array layer and the polarization-switching twisted nematic (TN) LC layer. |
