제목 Synthesis of thermo-responsive poly(N-vinyl caprolactam)-b-poly(ε-caprolactone) block copolymers by a combination of ROP and RAFT polymerization
초록 Amphiphilic block copolymers composed of biocompatible hydrophilic and hydrophobic blocks have been attracted much attention as nano-sized carriers for poorly water-soluble drugs. In this study, biocompatible and thermo-responsive poly(N-vinyl caprolactam)-b-poly(ε-caprolactone) (PVCL-b-PCL) diblock copolymers were synthesized by a combination of ROP and RAFT polymerization. PCL synthesized by ROP was modified into PCL macro-chain transfer agent (PCL-CTA), and then RAFT polymerization of N-vinyl caprolactam was conducted using PCL-CTA. This method was found to be very useful to produce well-defined PVCL-b-PCL diblock copolymers. The micelles of PVCL-b-PCL diblock copolymers exhibited reversible thermo-responsive behaviors at ~30 oC.
