The purpose of the wound dressing is to prevent secondary infection, minimize scarring and increase wound healing ability. A natural giant molecular polysaccharide extracted from algae, sacran, was used to prepare physically crosslinked hydrogel films and we revealed that the hydrogel film has possibility of wound dressing application. In order to increase the wound healing ability, ethanol extract of noni leaves was added to produce new sacran-noni hydrogel film (Sac-noni-HGF). Physically crosslinked sacran and Noni Hydrogel Films showed anti-inflammatory effect and did not show cytotoxity to rat fibroblasts NIH3T3 cells. In addition, through the in vivo test, sacran-noni hydrogel film (Sac-Noni-HGF) improved the rate of wound healing in rats, and revealed that the film possesses potential properties as biomaterial. |
