Silica particles occupy a prominent position in research, because of their easy preparation and wide uses in various industrial applications. In this study, spherical silica particles were synthesized through the Stober sol-gel process using ethylene diamine (EDA) as a base catalyst instead of ammonia. The particle size of silica was controlled by catalyst amount, water and reaction temperature. Here in, the effect of EDA catalyst at the synthesis of silica particles via sol-gel process and comparison with normally synthesized silica by using ammonia catalyst will be discussed. |
