Study on the polymorphism of sPS/PPO/multiwalled carbon nanotube nanocomposites |

sPS(syndiotactic polystyrene) is well known semicrystalline polymer having complex polymorphism(α, β, γ, δ). The α and β forms exist in the thermal process mainly, while the γ and δ forms are only found in the solvent treated process. Poly(phenylene oxide)(PPO) is engineering thermoplastic having an excellent heat resistance and which is miscible with sPS. MWCNT having good electrical and mechanical properties has been used as a conductive filler in the nanocomposite materials. Dispersion state of CNT in polymer/CNT nanocomposites is an important factor in enhancing electrical property. In this study, nanocomposites of sPS/PPO blends with CNT were prepared by the thermal processing in melt mixing method. The transition of polymorphism in the sPS/PPO/CNT nanocomposites was investigated by XRD. Thermal properties and electrical conductivity were measured by DSC and digital multimeter, respectively. |
