In this study, we report a simple strategy for synthesis of multicompartmental microparticls using sequential micromolding technique. In detail, surface-tension-induced droplet formation with UV irradiation of primary and secondary compartment results in formation of multicompartmental particles without complicated equipment. Furthermore, by controlling wettability and mold geometry, we can synthesize core-shell particles with controlled number of core. So, we believe that these synthesized multicompartmental particles can play critical roles in many applications such as drug delivery, systems for controlled chemical release, and encapsulation because of the capability to hold various functions within each compartmental particle. |
