Incorporation of Boron doped Graphene into a Polyurethane Nanocomposites |

Geometrically large, but highly crystallized boron doped graphenes, verified by Raman spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy, were prepared by sonication of expandable graphite in an organic solvent. The boron doping process was achieved by mixing 5 wt % boric acid with graphite and thermally treating the mixture at 2450 C for 30 min using a graphite furnace in an argon atmosphere. The doping type and the amount of boron in the graphite were evaluated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS, AXIS-ULTRA DLD, Kratos Analytical) with an monochromatized Al KR X-ray source with a 15 mA emission current and a 15 kV accelerating voltage. Finally, we envisage that the developed boron doped graphene-filled Polyurethane composites will find applications in lightweight planes, flexible semitransparent conducting films, and biomedical instruments. |
