Effect of UV-irradiation on photochemical stability of poly(vinyl alcohol)/poly(acrylic acid)/graphite oxide composite hydrogels |

Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/poly(acrlic acid) (PAAc)/oxyfluorinated-graphite oxide (GO) composites hydrogels were prepared by radical polymerization. The surface modification of GO was carried out by oxyfluorination to introduce the polar functional groups on the GO for the stronger interfacial adhesion with PVA. GO was obtained with the Hummer’s method and confirmed by XRD and FT-IR. The functional groups formed on GO by oxyfluorination were investigated by FT-IR. SEM was used to investigate the dispersion of GO in a PVA matrix. The photochemical stability of PVA/PAAc/oxyfluorinated-GO composite hydrogels was studied by measuring the insoluble gel content formed by photocrosslinking of the polymer under various UV irradiations. |
