An aminatedacrylamide-styrene-hydroxyethylate ion exchange membrane was synthesized by solution polymerization and its functions and the CDI application were tested. The yield of the poly(AAM-HEA-Sty) precursor was 92% on average, whereas the aminationratio was 85%. Additionally, the water content and the ion exchange capacity of the poly(AAM-HEA-Sty) precursor were 19~40% and 1.20 meq/g, respectively. The electrical resistance and conductivity of the membrane were 1.8∼4.9 Ω•cm2 and 0.014 S/cm, respectively, which are similar to or slightly lower than those of the standard membrane, AMX. CDI test of the nitrate ion showed that the membrane had excellent ion-permselectivity. Consequently, it was concluded that the ASH anion exchange membrane synthesized in this study is appropriate for use as a specific selective ion exchange membrane in water. |
