In this work, molybdenum catalysts were supported on ZSM-5/MCM-41 containing the properties of microporous and mesoporous materials, and their thiophene hydrodesulfurization (HDS) activity were investigated to confirm the effect of different wall structure of mesoporous materials. Characterizations were made with XRD, nitrogen adsorption, NH3-TPD, CO chemisorption, solid NMR, and elemental analysis (EA). The ZSM-5/MCM-41 material showed more stable wall structure and higher acidity than Al-MCM-41 due to that the walls of the mesostructure could be converted to a zeolitic (ZSM-5) phase. It was observed that the initial activity of thiophene HDS was enhanced over the ZSM-5/MCM-41 supported molybdenum catalyst obviously due to the presence of zeolitic phase. |
