제목 Fatty Acids Productivity and Composition of Phaeodactylum tricornutum MBEyh07L for Improving Biodiesel Properties
초록 Biodiesel from microalgae may help reduce the problems in using fossil fuels, depletion of reserves and environmental problems. Monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) produced in microalgae are important fatty acids for determining the quality of biodiesel in considering oxidation stability and cold flow property. In this study, fatty acids productivity and composition of Phaeodactylum tricornutum MBEyh07L (KCTC18366P), isolated from coastal seawater of Young-Heung Island, Incheon, Korea, ware investigated. The biomass was produced using 2 L bubble column photobioreactors in modified f/2-Si medium prepared with natural seawater. MUFAs accounted for 43.1% of the total fatty acids produced whereas saturated fatty acids and polyunsaturated fatty acids accounted for 26.0% and 18.0% of the total fatty acids, respectively. The result implies that the lipids from P. tricornutum MBEyh07L may contribute to improve biodiesel quality.
