Synthesis of Triphenylene Discotic Liquid Crystals and Characterization of their Mesomorphism |
초록 |
Triphenylene discotic liquid crystal consists of a triphenylene rigid core and six flexible chains. Triphenylene (TP) based discotic liquid crystals, [TP(OBzCnH2nOC(=O)CH=CH2)6] (n=number of methylene units) have been recently applied to fabricate the optical compensation film for wide viewing angle LCDs. A series of hexaacryloyloxyalkoxybenzoate of tiphenylene [TP(OBzCnH2nOC(=O)CH=CH2)6](n=4, 6, 8) have been prepared and followed by the characterization of their mesophase range and mesophase texture change by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and polarizing optical microscopy (POM). In this presentation, we will discuss the effect of the aliphatic side chain length on the thermal mesophase behavior. |
