Adding nanoparticles to polymer films may change its properties, which should influence the viscosity and dynamic properties of polymers. However, dynamic behaviors of both the nanoparticles and polymers still remain unclear at a molecular level. In this work, we aim to get some useful insights by employing computer simulations for freestanding polymer thin film and a single nanoparticle. When the particle size is large enough, the particle stays at the center of the polymer film. For small particle, however, the particle locates at the surface of polymer film. Such specific spatial orientations are also observed when the interaction strength between the particle and polymer changes. With weak interaction strength, particle resides at the surface of the film regardless of its size, and when the interaction strength is strong, particle stays at the center of the film independent to its size. |
