LiFePO4 has been attracted great interest as cathode material for Li ion batteries in the view of high capacity (170mAh/g) and low cost compared to commercial LiCoO2 cathode material. Li12xMgxFePO4 (x=0.00, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, 0.05) were synthesized from Li2CO3, FeC2O42H2O, C4Mg4O12H2MgO2xH2O, and NH4H2PO4 by sol-gel method. The samples were characterized by XRD, HR-TEM and SEM measurements. The formation of the olivine phase was confirmed without the impurities. SEM observation revealed that the magnesium-doped LiFePO4 particles were smaller than the undoped LiFePO4 particles. With increasing the magnesium doping in Li12xMgxFePO4, the cathode materials showed the stable cycling behavior, especially at high C-rate. |
